Yoga Classes

Core Balance Yoga helps restore peace and harmony to your core self.

Jenni's style of Yoga rejuvenates your endocrine glands, fostering emotional balance and inner harmony.

The physical postures (asanas) are movements for the body that cultivate energy, strength and flexibility. The intentional breathing techniques and pranayama practices, purify the flow of prana that is carried by the breath as your life force and subtle body energies throughout the body's physiological system. This cleansing flow of energy allows for a deeper rejuvenation of your inner life force, a flow of dynamic energy and a healthy core balance. The combination of breathwork, movement and attention to your subtle energy body promotes health in the body and clarity of mind.

Releasing tension from within the body and directing energy toward the brain unleashes the body's innate intelligence, facilitating self-healing, restoration and deep inner peace.

Core Balance Yoga postures, pranayama techniques and Paramhansa Yogananda's Energization Exercises are essential tools for increased self-awareness, deep meditation, radiant health, and successful living.

Yoga is both an art and a science. Physically, it rejuvenates and strengthens our bones, muscles, tissues, and musculoskeletal system. Mentally, it revitalizes our nervous system by replenishing blood cells and energizing our nerve centres, crucial for transmitting signals from the brain throughout the body. By cultivating balance and harmony within ourselves, we heighten our awareness and establish a deeper connection with our body, mind, and spirit. This allows us to appreciate and integrate the true essence of yoga: the union of body, mind, and soul.

Centring

A centring practice creates an awareness of your inner self and your breath. This creates a calm-centred reality with a presence and focus that continues in outward life. Being centred within your true nature is the foundation for a happier, more fulfilling and productive life.

Postures

The yoga asanas (postures) are specific movements that help to open the flow of breath and energy within your body/mind system. They facilitate strength, flexibility and vitality. The class sequence is designed to bring you a healthy balance of flow, stability, tranquillity, strength and flexibility.

Pause

The essence of the practice lies in the mindful pause or neutral pose between active yoga asanas. It's not just about physical rest but a valuable time to assimilate the benefits of the preceding pose, internalize awareness, and consciously work with energy (prana). This pause allows the body to complete the actions of the previous pose and prepares it for the next, ensuring a balanced flow of energy and heightened awareness throughout the practice. Rushing from one pose to the next would forfeit these opportunities for integration and a deeper connection to the practice's core centring and energy alignment principles.

Continuous Awareness

We move slowly, smoothly and consciously into and out of the asanas, so as not to diminish or interrupt our awareness of energy flows generated through the asanas. A continuous awareness of the spine—using it consciously at all times, and keeping it well supported—is central to this. Moving in this way increases both our awareness of energy and its ability to move freely through the spine.

This continuity of awareness then becomes a part of everyday life.

Pranayama

Pranayama techniques regulate energy flow, promoting spiritual awareness and a profound sense of joy and peace within. Pranayama is a fundamental component of yoga and meditation, which involves conscious control and regulation of the breath to enhance physical, mental, and spiritual well-being.

Meditation

Silent meditation periods allow for introspection, exploration of inner landscapes and communion with the inner self. By integrating these elements, meditation not only promotes relaxation and stress relief but also facilitates spiritual awakening and a profound sense of peace and joy.

Energisation Exercises

The Energization Exercises (also known as the Yogoda Exercises) are Paramhansa Yogananda's unique contribution to the science of yoga.

In these exercises Yogananda teaches us how to recharge the body battery and gain control over our subtle energy (prana) by using will, with awareness of energy, to consciously draw cosmic energy into the body and direct it to specific body parts.

When you can control your energy you can also control your thoughts, helping you develop radiant well-being and positive habits and attitudes, find fulfilment in the present, and achieve success in any endeavour.

Sadhana

The Sadhana umbrella of each yoga class creates an integrated approach and a space for uplifting your energy,  healing and absorbing the benefits on a multi-dimensional level. It invites spirit into the movement and play of yoga, allowing us to get out of our own way and let the power of life guide us toward our highest well-being and essential nature.

Class Themes

Inviting intention and themes into our practice, we affirm our commitment and awareness to a higher, healthier and happier reality. We are integrating wisdom into the physical movement, the breath, and the positive change that is taking place as we practice the art and science of yoga.

“Yoga’s purpose is spiritual, and since Hatha yoga is the physical branch of Raja Yoga, Hatha yoga must have a spiritual purpose. It can’t be just to give you a good body. The goal of the postures is to awaken the energy, loosen the spine so the energy can reach the brain more easily, bring it up the spine to the brain, and give you the experience of centeredness and upliftedness.
